A Conversation with Curious Undergrads

On November 13th, 2024, our chapter welcomed undergraduate students for an eye-opening informational session about pursuing a PhD in Operations Research, Operations Management, Applied Mathematics, and Optimization. We explored the big questions: What is a PhD? What does life as a researcher really look like?

The session aimed to make the world of academic research more accessible and less intimidating. We walked through high-level concepts, shared personal insights, and even worked on a few math problems to spark curiosity. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with the next generation of problem solvers, and we hope it left attendees inspired and intrigued by the possibilities that lie ahead in graduate research.
